Prof. Gheonea is a Professor of Radiology and Medical Imaging at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova, Romania. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Young Committee of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) where she is committed to supporting the professional development of young radiologists and advancing education, leadership, and collaboration across Europe.

Prof. Gheonea is the Past President of the Romanian Society of Radiology and Medical Imaging (SRIM) and currently serve as Vice-President of the Radiology Specialty Committee of the Romanian Ministry of Health.

Her clinical and research interests focus on abdominal imaging, breast imaging, oncologic imaging, artificial intelligence, and advanced CT and MRI applications. She has authored numerous scientific publications, participated in national and international research projects, and regularly lectures at national and international scientific meetings.

Prof. Gheonea is passionate about innovation in medical imaging, fostering the next generation of radiologists, and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration to improve patient care and shape the future of radiology.
